Investment in Quba

SCREEN Yorkshire, the regional screen agency responsible for promoting a successful film, broadcast, games and interactive media sector in Yorkshire and Humber, has invested £20,000 in digital agency Quba.
Sheffield-based Quba has benefited from Screen Yorkshire’s Business Investment Fund which it will put towards the development of its innovation and entrepreneurship enterprise, inQubator.
InQubator aims to invest in innovation and entrepreneurship through the creation and exploitation of intellectual property, and aims to turn ideas for new digital products and services into successful, sustainable long-term businesses.
Screen Yorkshire’s investment will be used to develop and test the inQubator framework through the operation of a pilot and in marketing the inQubator to attract entrepreneurs with ideas.
As part of the development for the inQubator framework, Quba is offering individuals or start-ups an incubation package worth up to £25,000, which includes specialist support from the Quba team, plus the use of office space in Sheffield.
All that’s needed to apply is an idea that could change the way that people think about and use the internet.
Darren Bristow, director of innovation at Quba, said: “Quba has established itself as a leading digital agency within the region for the provision of web development and digital marketing, however we recognise that significant value can be generated through the creation of IP in innovative digital products and services.”
Screen Yorkshire’s investment in the inQubator follows the announcement last month that Game Republic, the association for the games sector in Yorkshire and Humber and part of Screen Yorkshire, has awarded £30,000 of business investment funds to Sheffield-based games developer Tuna for the development of their award-nominated game Cletus Clay.
