HiAir to fly high from Robin Hood Airport

AIRLINE HiAir is to run trial flights from Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield Airport to Amsterdam later this year in a boost for the region’s business community.

The first flight from the airport by the Lincoln-based business is scheduled to take off on September 5.

HiAir, which offers chartered flights and helicopter travel among its services, hopes the routes will attract business people and holiday makers.

The announcement follows the recent decision by the Government to award an £18m project to build a new link road to Robin Hood Airport through its Regional Growth Fund.

Ben King, co-director of HiAir, said: “We bring fresh ideas and energy to the industry and seek to awaken the glamour previously associated with aviation through our ambition to deliver outstanding levels of customer service.

“Such personal service can only be achieved by utilising rich local airports such as Robin Hood which provides a blissful foundation for us to trial our niche concept.”

Mike Morton, Doncaster Sheffield Airport director, added: “This is a great opportunity for the region to get behind a local company who are committed to offering travellers a high quality service to a key European airport.

“We know from past experience that Amsterdam is a destination that businesses in particular are keen to see served from this airport and we hope that interest from passengers will see this service come to fruition later in the year.

“HiAir offer something different for passengers and we will work closely with them over the coming weeks to help promote the benefits of their service and the convenience of flying from Robin Hood Airport.”

Dan Fell, Head of Policy at Doncaster Chamber of Commerce said, “It’s great to see a local company doing something entrepreneurial in the current economic climate. We welcome improved access to a key market such as Amsterdam for the businesses of the Sheffield City Region.

The scheduled airline agent will use the Jetstream 32 19 seat aircraft for the flights.

HiAir will also be offering a concierge programme and executive travel options both to and from the airport for professionals with chauffeured cars and helicopter transfers.
