Kirklees to hold its first ‘meet the buyer’ food event

FOOD manufacturers from across West Yorkshire will be hoping to secure valuable contracts at a meet the buyer event at Galpharm Stadium.

More than 20 producers will be showcasing their produce including meat, dairy, vegetables, bread, drinks and pickles.

Some of the producers that have registered include suppliers of free range turkeys, award winning pies, fresh roasted coffee, and Yorkshire wine.

Local celebrity chefs Tim Bilton from the Butchers Arms and Barrington Douglas from Discovery Bay will be putting on a cooking demonstration using produce available to buy at the event.

Cllr Julie Stewart-Turner, mayor of Kirklees, said the event was the first of its kind in Kirklees.

“For this event to be a success we need as many different buyers to come along and see what a rich array of local produce we have on offer and then start using more of it in their businesses,” she added.

Although the deadline has now passed for exhibitors to register manufacturers may be able to share a stand.
