Hawker swoops in as Lloyds TSB Commercial director

LLOYDS TSB Commercial, the division of Lloyds Banking Group which supports small to medium-sized enterprises, has appointed Phil Hawker as area director for Yorkshire.

Mr Hawker will head up a team of 63 relationship managers which provide dedicated banking services for customers with an annual turnover of up to £15m across Leeds, York, Bradford, Halifax, Harrogate, Huddersfield, Sheffield, Doncaster and Hull.

Lloyds TSB Commercial said it had increased lending to businesses by 13% year-on-year so far in 2009.

Mr Hawker has 29 years experience in the banking sector and aims to ensure businesses can access the funding and guidance needed to prepare for an upturn in the econoomy.

Mr Hawker, who is a keen photographer and walker, said: “Now, more than ever, it’s vital that firms in Yorkshire maintain a close relationship with their banking partner and professional support network to put them in a strong position.

“My role is to work with our excellent team in the region to continue building valuable, long-term relationships with local businesses and the wider community.

“We have the expertise, experience and tools to provide the guidance and tailored financial packages to enable businesses to grow and flourish throughout the economic cycle.”

TheBusinessDesk.com reported yesterday how Lloyds Banking Group had  formed a team focussing on the North and West Yorkshire business community, based in Leeds, headed up by Shaun Ellenthorpe, and a team based in Sheffield and Hull looking after South and East Yorkshire businesses, led by Tim Pryor.
