How you can join top TV names Paxman and Dimbleby

BIG TV news names including David Dimbleby, Jeremy Paxman and Angela Rippon are backing Yorkshire business leaders Gary Verity and Andrew Palmer and David Parkin of TheBusinessDesk.com, who are tackling the New York Marathon this weekend to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care in Yorkshire.
Mr Verity, chief executive of tourist authority Welcome to Yorkshire, is leading a team of 14 friends and colleagues which includes CBI regional director Mr Palmer, in the 26 mile race in November.
Mr Verity’s friend, senior BBC producer Lizz Loxam, is part of the team and has signed up support from the well known TV news names.
A host of Yorkshire business people and companies have also backed the runners by pledging thousands’ of pounds of sponsorship.
Mr Verity has drawn inspiration from his wife Helen’s battle with cancer to try to raise £500,000 which will pay for a massive 25,000 hours of nursing in Yorkshire by Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The team have already raised £220,000 before starting their run on Sunday and have appealed for readers of TheBusinessDesk.com to show their support.
