Former Sooty museum hits the market

A LANDMARK building, which was once home to the World of Sooty museum and an animatronic cat exhibition, has come to the market.

Windhill Manor on Leeds Road in Shipley was originally a stone built Victorian school building but has most recently been converted into office accommodation and is currently home to The Direct Marketing Group, which is relocating.

The sale is being handled by the Bradford office of Eddisons Chartered Surveyors, which is looking for offers in the region of £895,000.

Shazad Mahmood of Eddisons said: “This is one of the most well known buildings in the area and enjoys a prominent position in the Aire Valley corridor. It is also close to Shipley town centre and railway station.”

Mr Mahmood believes the building has a range of potential future uses, subject to the necessary planning consents.

“Although the building would  suit a continuation of its use as high quality offices, the location and large dedicated car park mean it lends itself to a multitude of alternative uses, including a restaurant, health club or private medical practice,” he added.

The accommodation is set over three floors extending to more than 13,000 sq ft.

It stands in a site of around 0.82 acres and also includes a two bedroom residential dwelling, currently used as a caretaker’s residence.
