£6m transformation completes at former BAE site

Official visit by HRH Prince Andrew to Humber Enterprise Park

The Humber Enterprise Park has been opened following a major transformation at a former BAE Systems site.

The 86-acre facility was officially launched by HRH The Duke of York last week, after a £6m investment in the site by developer Citivale over two years.

Along with partner LRE Capital, Citivale has turned the Enterprise Zone into 1.3 million sq ft of industrial and office space.

James Appleton-Metcalfe, managing director of Citivale said: “We were delighted to welcome His Royal Highness to Humber Enterprise Park. This is an exciting new chapter for the site, which is steeped in local history.

“In refurbishing the site, we have sought to emulate the original vision of its founder, Robert Blackburn, to create a facility that can accommodate entrepreneurial, embryonic and international corporate businesses side by side; this will be a community where business can thrive.

“The reconfiguration and demolition of redundant outbuildings, office buildings, industrial buildings and even a building to simulate bird strikes on cock pit canopies, has finally completed.

“Over the last couple of years we have accommodated start-up businesses such as Rex
Rob Engineering, Turpin Bookkeeping, we’ve worked closely with highly specialized entrepreneurial businesses that were borne out of BAE such as Cablescan and Supercraft. And clearly we continue to work very closely alongside global corporate giants such BAE who still occupy over 40% of the space on HEP.”
