My Yorkshire: Hadyn Luke, director at CMS Vocational Training

Hadyn Luke is director at training and apprenticeship provider CMS Vocational Training and CMS Fitness Courses. CMS is based in Batley and offers a variety of government funded and commercial training programmes for young people and adults across Yorkshire.

Where do you live / where are you from?
I was born in Bradford and lived in Wakefield until 2013. I currently live in Pontefract with my wife and son.

What is your favourite place to visit in Yorkshire, and why?
Eureka! I get to go exploring with my son. I have always liked science and Eureka is brilliant for him.

What is the most memorable meal you’ve ever had in Yorkshire?
Cote de Boeuf at the Cow Shed in Wakefield. It was a pre-planned meal on the evening of the night I proposed to my wife. It’s a great restaurant.

What is your most Yorkshire trait?
My accent. I sometimes feel I may not be the most appropriate person to make online videos for our website (due to the broad Yorkshire accent) but I seem to get the message across ok!

Favourite piece of trivia about the region.
Wakefield Cathedral has the tallest spire in Yorkshire. A fact I was told at school when visiting the Cathedral and it as stuck with me.

What is your favourite cultural icon to come out of Yorkshire?
The National Coal Mining Museum. It’s great to go down the mines and see how people used to work down there.

Worst experience or thing about Yorkshire?
The month of February is pretty grim weather wise! As much as I love Spring, Summer and Autumn, I find the Winter months particularly miserable – apart from Christmas! Got to love Christmas!

What is one thing you’d steal from Lancashire (or other UK regions) if you could?
Nothing – we are blessed!r

What is the most overrated thing about Yorkshire?
The M62 J29…I speak for everybody when I say that it can be a terrible motorway junction.
