Proposals submitted for new 196-apartment development

Plans have been submitted for a brand new apartment scheme at the Hungate residential development in York.

On behalf of Hungate (York) Regeneration Limited, planning and development consultancy Lichfields submitted the proposals to York council for Block D of the development.

The plans comprise a part six, part seven-storey building featuring 196 residential apartments, a landscaped courtyard, green roof, cycle parking provision and associated infrastructure works.

The development will include 99 one bed, 90 two bed and seven three bed apartments, which all have access to balconies and ground floor terraces.

A total of 204 car parking spaces will be provided at the scheme. These will include existing car parking on site, including the basement beneath Blocks A, B and C, and the multi-storey car park that forms part of Block F.

If the proposals are approved, construction on Block D is anticipated to start in Summer 2020, and be completed by Summer 2022.

The planning application said: “Hungate comprises a key brownfield development scheme within York city centre, and has long been identified as an important regeneration opportunity capable of providing a new and distinctive but complementary area of the city centre.

“The latest proposals seek minor changes to the design of Block D, which continues to propose a high-quality development in-keeping with the long established vision for the Hungate development, and will allow for the delivery of this next stage of development.

“The applicant is fully committed to facilitating the regeneration of this important city centre site.”
