Four-storey Victorian era building launches to market

A red brick building dating back to the Victorian era in York has been launched to market.

Beverley House, just off Shipton Road, was the previous home to the general manager of the Rowntree Cocoa Works.

The four-storey building was later divided into flats and subsequently extended and converted into office accommodation.

Along with gardens at the back and parking in front, the site comprises a total area of approximately 0.7 acres and would be suitable for residential redevelopment via permitted development rights. It could also be retained as offices.

Matthew Jones, director in Savills Leeds-based development team, which is handling the sale, said: “Beverley House is about a mile north west of York city centre in a conservation area and highly regarded, predominantly residential neighbourhood.

“Homestead Park, a beautiful 14-acre public garden, is close by. We are anticipating a great deal of interest in the site.”
