Coffee business takes on 1,400 sq ft commercial unit

A 1,400 sq ft ground floor unit at Mabgate Mills, Leeds, has a new occupier – an ethical specialty coffee company.

Shiloh Coffee Roasters, which was established in 2016 by Jean and Mark Armstrong, has moved into Mill 6 at the complex.

The firm relocated to these larger premises in order to open a coffee shop and expand its roasting operation.

The deal to enable the move was negotiated jointly by Carter Towler and Atkinson Associates.

Jean Armstrong, of Shiloh, said: “Carter Towler and Atkinson Associates have been fantastic to work with. They helped us so much with planning permission and dealing with the landlord on sorting out the lease.

“We are thrilled with the new premises at Mabgate and can’t wait to start sharing our coffees with visitors to our new shop.

“We have built up a great following of people who subscribe to our roast and post service but being able to meet our customers and see them tasting our products firsthand will take our business to a whole new level.

“We will be offering tasting sessions and are also looking forward to providing fresh food as Mark has been a chef for 20 years.

“There’s a very vibrant business community here at Mabgate and we feel the time is ripe to add a social element too.”

Carter Towler graduate surveyor Harriet Lawson said: “I’m sure Shiloh’s coffee will prove to be very popular here at Mabgate.

“Not only will the new location provide a great base for the roasting side of the business but it’s also an excellent location for a café.

“This part of town is really flourishing now. There are over 30 businesses in the mills alone and of course there are lots of others close by as well as the new Leeds City College Quarry Hill campus which is due to open in September.”

A number of other offices are still available at Mabgate Mills, ranging in size from 280 to 2,032 sq ft.
