New premises make an impression on printing business

One of Sheffield’s longest established printers is on the move from the place it has operated from for over 30 years.
Mensa Printers was established in 1956 and has been providing print and bind services to clients in and around Sheffield from its premises on Arundel Lane since 1988.
The family-owned company has grown steadily in recent years, taking on more staff and increasing its capabilities with significant investment in digital print technology.
Last year it became clear that the Arundel Lane workshop and offices were getting pushed to the limit in terms of space, so the search began for new premises that would meet the company’s needs.
Mensa Printers’ Owner, George Dawn, said: “Arundel Lane has been a great location for us over the years, but it simply cannot support our growth plans. The new place on Abbeydale Road will allow us to dramatically improve our workflow with everything on the same floor.
“It means we can apply lean working strategies with jobs moving from one station to another very easily. Being in the city centre has been valuable to our Sheffield customers, but it also caused difficulties with parking, which meant customers sometimes struggling with collections.
“At the new site we will have our own car park which means customers can easily drop in, place orders and collect and load them with no problems or fears of getting a parking ticket!”
Mensa Printers and its seven members of staff will have fully transferred all operations to the new premises on the corner of Abbeydale Road and Aizlewood Road by the middle of August.
