New owner for North Yorkshire B&B and tearoom business

A building dating back 270 years which is now a bed and breakfast and tearoom is under new ownership after being sold for £380,000.

First time buyer Mark Ede has bought Laburnum House, in Hawes, explaining he was drawn to the opportunity thanks to the property’s prominent trading location.

The business attracts large numbers of tourists, cyclists and walkers, especially during the summer months.

It occupies a building dating to 1749, which has since been updated to maintain the character of the original property. As well as three en-suite bedrooms, the building accommodates an increasingly popular traditional tearoom, with seating for 50 guests.

Laburnum House was sold by vendor Robert Belton. After being put on the market with Kings Business, the premises received a successful offer from Ede after only six viewings.

Lead negotiator of the sale, Dylan O’Kane, said: “Bob was a pleasure to work with, I wish both the seller and buyer all the best in the future.”

Belton said: “Dylan O’Kane really was the person who did the leg work of the sale and I found him to be professional throughout the sale process.”
