Merger ignites energy division growth for facilities management business

Huddersfield-based Core Facility Services has completed a merger with Kirklees energy management firm FM Energy to pave the way for nationwide expansion of its energy and sustainability services.

The merger will see Core take over FM Energy’s portfolio of commercial and charity clients and widen its range of energy purchasing, efficiency and bill validation services.

Colette Watts, Managing Director of Core, said the move would also support one of the company’s fastest growing areas of business – sustainability management.

She added: “Most organisations already understand the cost saving benefits of proactive energy purchasing, but we are now seeing a real demand for a full sustainability strategy.

“Procurement teams increasingly look at sustainability when appointing suppliers so this is relevant to every organisation, whatever its size.”

She said Core’s sustainability planning covers wellness, waste management and staff engagement as well as energy efficiency.

Watts said: “By expanding our energy services we can now offer a complete sustainability solution for businesses across Yorkshire, which we plan to roll out into other areas of the UK over the next five years.”
