‘Yes’ vote secures fresh five-year chapter for city’s Business Improvement District

LeedsBID (Leeds Business Improvement District) has been voted in for another five years after a resounding endorsement from businesses in Leeds city centre.

In the renewal ballot results announced today, 93.7% of voters have backed renewing the Business Improvement District for a second term, to run from April 2020-March 2025.

The team behind LeedsBID said the vote result shows the strength of support for the initiative from the businesses it represents and endorses its ambitious plans to invest £14.2m back into the city centre over the next five years.

LeedsBID chief executive, Andrew Cooper, said: “We are delighted to see the businesses we represent resoundingly support another five years of our work and endorse an investment of over £14m to improving Leeds for the better. And we thank all of those who have pledged their support by voting yes for our plans for the next chapter of LeedsBID.”

Established in April 2015, LeedsBID is the largest Business Improvement District outside of London and has delivering many events and activities to transform the city centre.

Core projects brought to the city by LeedsBID have become familiar and recognisable in the daily landscape of the city, such as the Welcome Ambassadors and Street Rangers, as well the delivery of projects with direct business benefits.]

“LeedsBID: The Next Chapter” sees the organisation’s priorities for Term Two, running from 2020 to 2025, focusing on five core themes: Ambition; Curation; Animation; Collaboration; and Innovation, underpinning its work in improving and enhancing Leeds city centre for the benefit of all who use it.
