People: New faces at specialist recruiter; Commercial litigation solicitor retires after nearly four decades; and more

E3 Recruitment (E3R), which specialises in engineering and manufacturing recruitment, has strengthened its offering by adding three new recruits to its South Yorkshire office and is looking to recruit at least two more new employees next year.

The team has welcomed Ciara Neal and Ubaid Ali as recruitment consultants and Nikki Outram as a recruitment coordinator. All of them bring a wealth of recruitment experience to the team.

The newest recruits join Shabbir Ahmad, Adnan Sarwar, Rodger Morley, all recruitment consultants, and directors Andrew Pilling and Andrew Joseph at the South Yorkshire office. This is based on the Bradmarsh Business Park, in Rotherham, with the company’s head office located in Huddersfield.

This follows in the foot-steps of the five new recruits to the Huddersfield office and complements the agency’s robust growth plans for the next few years which is expected to make a turnover of £1.6m by the end of this year.

From its South Yorkshire office, the agency recruits for engineering and manufacturing roles ranging from blue collar, such as; Assembly Fitters, Welders, and CNC; to Design, Project, Quality and managerial opportunities working across the vertical sectors E3R serves, including General Manufacturing and the heavy industries within it, Automotive and Aerospace.

E3R director Andrew Pilling said: “South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire are traditionally the steel heartlands of the UK with a strong manufacturing base. Over the past ten years it has become a hotbed for advanced manufacturing with the likes of Boeing and McLaren moving to the area.

“The industry faces a skills gap, so it’s important manufacturing and engineering companies use a recruitment agency that is at the forefront with vast amounts of industry expertise and knowledge.

“Our clients are loyal and business demand continues to grow, which is why we need to recruit a minimum of two new employees in the South Yorkshire office in the first quarter of 2020 to complement the team’s strong offering.

“We are a fast-growing company and we can offer employees a great remuneration and benefits package which includes BUPA.”

Wake Smith Solicitors’ chairman Nick Lambert has announced his retirement after nearly four decades in the law.

Commercial litigation solicitor Lambert has been with the Sheffield law firm for 12 years since it merged with Tofields in 2007 and also supervised the incorporation of Wake Smith Solicitors Limited in 2015 and the successful city centre move for the firm in 2016.

He will retire from the company, and the law completely, at the end of April 2020 with corporate team director John Baddeley taking over as chairman in January 2020 and fellow litigator Elizabeth Shaw becoming head of the litigation department from December 2019.

A new litigation solicitor will also join the team in the new year to take on Lambert’s workload.

John Baddeley, who was elected to succeed him as chairman, said: “Through all the challenges the firm has faced over many years, Nick has been a superb board member and has done an outstanding job as our chairman in the last six years. I would personally like to thank him for all his hard work, huge energy and commitment, wishing him all the best as he retires.”

Property litigation and dispute resolution director Elizabeth Shaw added: “I greatly respect Nick for his commitment and sheer tenacity over the years. His determination, energy and passion for Wake Smith have been instrumental in making it the organisation it is today.”

Lambert said: “I have been a practising solicitor for over 36 years and it’s been a genuine privilege being at the heart of Wake Smith for 12 years and as chairman for six of those.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. It’s a good firm with good people and whilst there will always be bumps on the road as the legal sector continues to face different challenges, I know it will continue to prosper and flourish for a very long time to come.

“I wish John and Liz all the best in their new roles. I plan on enjoying my retirement away from the law, and although I will no longer be playing an active part, I’m sure I will watch with interest from afar to see how Wake Smith progresses.”
