Cleaning products business aiming for £26m turnover

A Bradford-based cleaning products maker has outlined plans designed to deliver a double-digit growth for the third consecutive year.

Producing approximately 150,000 products every day, Astonish reported a turnover of £22m to the year end 31 May 2019. With performance showing an increase of 16% year-on-year, and with a further quarter to report, its target is set to increase to £26m to the year-end 31 May 2020.

The firm has been launched its first ever multi-million pound TV advertising campaign, which will run through to the end of March.

Managing director of Astonish, Howard Moss, said: “When my father launched the business more than 40 years ago, he set the values that we are still following today; develop quality products that are best in class, non-harmful or toxic, cruelty free, vegan and offer real value for money.

“Investment into our brand and business has had an incredible impact in recent years and with the plans we have, we know that 2020 is going to be another successful year. We won’t apologise for our achievements, we want our customers, suppliers and staff to come on the journey with us.”

He noted that Astonish is a second-generation family-run business, which benefits from a flat organisational structure.

Moss added: “The fact that we have never had to make one redundancy tells me two things; we are employing the right people for the job and we are also making sure that we are adding new colleagues to the business that can have a job for life.

“It’s about stability, security, reward and also not taking ourselves too seriously.”
