Development takes off near South Yorkshire airport

Property developer Marshall CDP has launched a new speculative industrial scheme close to Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

The first phase of Kestrel Court will feature three detached units of 13,500 to 18,000 sq ft available to let and for sale, with planning permission for general industrial and warehouse use -supporting Doncaster’s £930m logistics sector.

The developer has set itself the target of completing the scheme which is on First Avenue by the end of the year.

Chris Marshall from Marshall CDP said: “Our decision to develop Kestrel Court is based on this area now being recognised as a first-class location for business. Occupiers can take advantage of prime accommodation, transport links, the growing airport’s freight commerce operation and an available workforce.

“We are very grateful for the support we have received from Doncaster Council’s Business Doncaster, which has enabled us to start on site at Kestrel Court.”

The units will feature fitted office accommodation and car parking in a landscaped business park setting.

Bill Mordue, cabinet member for business and economic development at Doncaster Council, said: “Doncaster benefits from competitive operating costs and is the perfect location for the movement of goods throughout the UK and beyond whether it’s by road, rail, air or sea. We are the right location for companies looking for somewhere to locate their business

“Occupiers at business parks in the region can take advantage of millions of customers right on their doorstep, 75% of the population reachable within a 4/5 hour drive time, the right supply chain skills, low operating costs and a readily available workforce.”

Rebecca Schofield, head of the Yorkshire industrial team at Knight Frank in Sheffield, who are marketing the property added: “Marshall CDP have maintained their confidence in the industrial market and the development responds to much needed stock within the 10 – 20,000 sq ft bracket. The units will be finished to Marshall CDP’s usual high specification and are available for sale or to let which we believe will be attractive to the market.”
