City briefs: Proactis; Mobile Tornado; and more

Wetherby-based software firm Proactis Holdings has signed its first contract for the provision of bePayd, its accelerated payment service, with Experbuy.

This is a French company offering a business process outsourcing solution that enables companies to manage their tail spend purchases more effectively.

Experbuy is a subsidiary of EPSA, a group with international operations helping organisations increase performance and profitability through three major areas of expertise: support with purchasing, organisation, performance and change management issues; cost control through the optimisation of tax, social security and occupational accidents; and the marketplace.

This contract enables Experbuy to deploy bePayd for use by its own suppliers which aggregate to approximately €180m of annual spend across 65,000 suppliers.

bePayd allows suppliers to accelerate the payment of an approved invoice in return for a small discount and is primarily aimed at the long tail of small suppliers in the supply chain.

Tim Sykes, Proactis CEO, said: “I am delighted to have signed our first bePayd contract with Experbuy, part of the EPSA Group.

“We look forward to working with Experbuy to drive take-up of this great service to suppliers over the coming months and beyond.

“As we look forwards, the solution has never seemed more relevant, and with a healthy pipeline of opportunities, we are optimistic about its prospects in 2021.”

Harrogate-based network and telecommunications firm, Mobile Tornado, has reached a Partnership Agreement with global LTE telecoms solutions provider, Telrad Networks.

This is to offer an integrated, end-to-end solution for Push-to-Talk (PTT) communication over broadband.

It will allow customers to use a single mobile device for both cellular and PTT communication in both one-to-one and group environments.

Telrad will begin marketing the proposition in all of its markets around the world during quarter one 2021 and Mobile Tornado will generate software license fees on every system sold.

Mobile Tornado CEO, Avi Tooba, said: “We are proud to partner with Telrad to deliver best-in-class instant communication solutions to our customers around the world.

“This new solution allows customers with traditional land mobile radio (LMR) and digital mobile radio (DMR) systems to migrate to extremely powerful LTE broadband systems with capabilities that do not exist in those older systems.

“This could prove transformative for organisations whose day-today operations rely on PTT communication, such as oil and gas or mining.”

Brinsmead has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over 30 years, holding executive leadership roles with ICI, and Zeneca, before becoming chairman of AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals UK, president of AstraZeneca UK and Ireland (2001 – 2010), and president of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) from 2008-2010.

He is currently chairman of  two companies – Scapa Plc and Proveca Ltd, and is a member of council at Imperial College.

Brinsmead will replace Peter Wennstrom as a director of the company on confirmation of his appointment. Wennstrom will continue in an advisory capacity following his resignation from the Board.

“Chris’s pharmaceutical, healthcare, investment experience, and chairmanship of a FTSE 350 company complements the current Boards wealth of experience.

“The Board of OptiBiotix would like to take this opportunity to thank Peter for his advice on brand strategy and helping OptiBiotix position its SlimBiome®, LPLDL® and WellBiome® brands in international markets, and his contribution to the company’s development.

“The company anticipates there will be further additions and changes to the Board and management teams as it continues to grow sales, expand into international markets and commercialises its next generation products.”
