44 more homes to be built in second stage of residential scheme
Plans for the second phase of the Sky-House development at the Waverley Regeneration site in South Yorkshire have been given the green light.
The Sky-House site on land close to both Sheffield and Rotherham is part of a campaign funded by Homes England’s Home Building Fund.
It is based around the back-to-back housing model created by architects at Sheffield’s CODA Studios.
Following the sales success of the first phase, Rotherham Council has now approved the second stage of the development – a further 44 properties to be built alongside the current Waverley site at Lescar Road at Catcliffe.
The Sky-House Co was founded by CODA chairman David Cross and property developer Philip Prince of Broadfield Holdings.
Sales enquiries are being dealt with by the Land & New Homes department of Sheffield estate agency Redbrik.
Cross said: “We are delighted to be continuing our working relationship with Homes England and are very pleased that Rotherham Council has once again shown its faith in the Sky-House concept and given this second phase its approval.
“This new phase, which should go to site in the new year, will feature four four-bedroom town houses and, most excitingly, 40 of the next generation of the Sky-House, all built around a steel frame structure to aid the speed of construction and enhance the project’s already outstanding environmental credentials.
“In addition, this second generation will also feature extra floor space and an additional flexible space on the top floor, giving home owners even more living choices.
“And once again, we will be working alongside the Harworth Group to ensure this second phase reaches the same high standards as the first, which was nominated for two regional and national awards last year.”
The announcement of the second phase at Waverley comes as the Sky-House Co moves into a new headquarters at Broadfield Road in Sheffield.
Cross added: “We now have an excellent in house team following more than 12 months of growth and success, headed by our Operations Director Ryan Ratcliffe.
“We are also delighted to announce that Mark Rosindale, former managing director of Strata Homes, has joined us as non-executive director and will play a vital role in growing the Sky-House brand.
“We have to say as well that much of our success is thanks to the fantastic support of Homes England and we are very happy to be working with them again as we move to the second phase of Waverley.”
Sky-House Co has already been given approval to create 40 of its Sky-House homes as part of the redeveloped British Tissues site in Oughtibridge alongside a new Food Hall.
That development will consist of 24 three bedroom Sky Houses, six more three bed end-terraces along with a further five four-bed riverside properties. The site’s old Mill Cottages will also be converted into four apartments and a cottage.
In nearby Stocksbridge, the company is preparing to start on site with seven three-bedroom town houses – all with their own terraces and parking spaces – on the site of the former Peggy Tub social club in New Road, close to the Fox Valley retail development.
