Multi-storey car park proposed for town

People in Bridlington are being asked to give their views on plans for a multi-storey car park for the town.

The proposals will see East Riding of Yorkshire Council redevelop the existing car park space on Beck Hill and Hilderthorpe Road with a three-level building which will provide secure parking facilities to serve the town centre.

The car park will be accessed from Beck Hill with the exit on Hilderthorpe Road and will provide 431 parking spaces, with 25 dedicated accessible spaces, eight motorcycle bays as well as a number of electric vehicle charging points.

Anyone who wishes to comment on the proposals should go to the dedicated project website – www.beckhillmscpconsultation.co.uk

Following the consultation process, a full planning application will be submitted.

Councillor Chris Matthews, portfolio holder for strategic property and infrastructure at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “The proposed new car park at Beck Hill will support our ongoing plans for regeneration and growth of Bridlington town centre by providing modern and well-lit parking in a convenient location.

“The proposals will help increase footfall in the town centre while reducing highways congestion currently caused as cars circle the area looking for spaces.

“Before we submit a planning application, we’re keen to hear what the people of Bridlington think of the proposals and this public online consultation will give everyone to review our plans.”
