International rail services firm commits its future to South Yorkshire

Kestrel Court

Dutch-headquartered rail services provider Dual Inventive plans to create 32 jobs as part of its 10 year expansion plan after relocating to a new Doncaster business park.

The company, which uses technology to make improvements and efficiencies in the rail network, has hugely increased its floor having moved from a 500 sq ft base in Doncaster to a new 18,000 sq ft unit at Kestrel Court development near Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

The expansion has already created eight new jobs in Doncaster but predicted growth as a result of product demand means the company will grow to 40-strong in the near future.

Dual Inventive, first opened UK base in 2009 and has a £10m turnover, manufacturing and selling hardware and software to increase rail capacity, plus offering service, maintenance and after sales packages.

Josh Jackson, director at Dual Inventive, said: “This upsizing was essential to our future growth.”

He added that the firm has set its sights on a rapid expansion over the next decade, as the firm is “looking to substantially grow” its share of the market.

Plans for the new unit, leased for 10 years, include extended office and warehouse space, an indoor section of rail track, an employee gym, social spaces and an auditorium for product launches and training sessions.

Jackson added: “What attracted us to Kestrel Court was the location and the flexibility of the space.

“The infrastructure is so valuable for us. There are so many transport links here, access to a pool of highly qualified and relevant potential new employees in South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire, plus the heritage of Doncaster and the rail industry.

“But the capabilities of the space was key. We have really ambitious plans and we can tailor the unit exactly for our needs and be really imaginative to create the base we want.”

The units at Kestrel Court, developed by Marshall CDP and supported by Doncaster MBC’s Business Doncaster service, feature fitted office accommodation with good sized loading and car parking in a landscaped business park setting.

Cllr Bill Mordue, Cabinet Member for Business, Skills and Economic Development at Doncaster Council, added that the council through Business Doncaster has “worked closely” with Jackson and the Dual Inventive team “following an introduction from The Department For International Trade” in order to find the ideal location within the town.

Mordue said: “The facility at Kestrel Court is a step change for the business and demonstrates Dual Inventive’s commitment to Doncaster and the UK. The innovative technology and solutions that Dual Inventive provides are substantial additions to the world-class rail cluster here and we look forward to continuing to work together on their expansion plans.”
