World-leading Swiss firm acquires containment specialists

Extract Technology, a worldwide supplier of containment and aseptic systems for the pharmaceutical, healthcare, biotech and chemical markets has been acquired by Lausanne-based Dietrich Engineering Consultants (Dec) Group.

The acquisition of the Huddersfield headquartered business supports Dec’s strategic approach to complimentary technology acquisition, and specifically focuses on growing its Containment Solutions Technologies product portfolio.

The deal will also further expand the Swiss company’s manufacturing capabilities in the UK/EU market, and the growing North American market – with Extract operating a manufacturing site in Wisconsin.

Dec’s managing directors Yves and Frederic Dietrich said: “Enhancing our capabilities within the containment technology portfolio sits at the heart of the Dec Group, the ability to contain customer product to support safety, product integrity & improve efficiency are founding principles of the company. Today we have been able to expand our containment product portfolio to include new portfolio technologies, expand end-markets into areas such as Nuclear, and expand our global reach through two new manufacturing facilities in the UK & the USA, which will ultimately benefit the existing Dec business”.

Law firm Shoosmiths advised private equity house, Capiton AG via its investee company Dec Group on the purchase, via its Leeds corporate team led by partners James Foster and Simon Procter along with principal associate Natalie Hager and associate Jess Wetherop.

James Foster said: “This is an exciting and strategic acquisition for the Dec Group which will see it further enhance its product lines, adjacencies and provides it with a fantastic platform to further expand both its UK and US operations. It has been a pleasure to advise both the Dec Group and Capiton and we look forward to working together again in the future.”
