Four NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland branches in Yorkshire are to be axed as part of a nationwide programme of closures.

The Headingley West Yorkshire, Hull University East Yorkshire and Leeds Victoria West Yorkshire NatWest outlets will all shut, along with the Leeds Park Row Royal Bank of Scotland.

NatWest Group has blamed a continuing shift in customer activity towards online.

The company, which is due to publish its full-year results for 2021 this week, says 21 of the sites confirmed as closing nationally operate under its NatWest brand and 11 are RBS branches.

It adds that most of the staff affected would be moved to other branches.

A spokesman for NatWest said: “As with many industries, most of our customers are shifting to mobile and online banking, because it’s faster and easier for people to manage their financial lives.
