City briefs: Pressure Technologies and 600 Group

Specialist engineering group, Pressure Technologies, has confirmed changes to its Board of Directors.

The Sheffield-based company has appointed Nick Salmon as non-executive chair of the company, effective from 1 April 2022. 

Salmon has been chair at Scotia Gas Networks Limited  since March 2021 having joined the Board in 2019.

He has been chair of South East Water Limited since 2015 but will be stepping down on 31 March 2022.

Formerly he was the senior independent director of Elementis plc (2014-2020), a non-executive director of Interserve plc (2014-2019), senior independent director of United Utilities plc (2005-2014), chief executive of Cookson Group plc (2004-2012), executive vice president of Alstom SA (1997-2004), and chief executive of Babcock International Group plc (1993-1997).

He spent his earlier career in the power station construction sector with GEC, China Light and Power and the CEGB. Salmon is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Also, Roy Gardner will be stepping down from Pressure Technologies’ Board on 31 March 2022 and will not be standing for re-election at the company’s Annual General Meeting.  

And Brian Newman will be stepping down as a non-executive director of the company on 31 March 2022 and will not be standing for re-election at the Annual General Meeting.

Following Newman’s departure, Tim Cooper will act as senior independent director of the company and chair of the Remuneration Committee from 1 April 2022.

600 Group, a diversified industrial engineering company, says Rui Lopes has been appointed as chief financial officer of the Elland-based group with immediate effect.

Lopes has held several executive finance positions over the past 15 years, most recently as director of Halma PLC Safety Sector.

He was previously chief financial officer of Ocean Insight, Inc. (Halma company) between 2018 and 2021, vice president at Accudynamics LLC (Halma company) between 2017 and 2018 and held senior finance roles at Smiths Medical (Smiths Group PLC) between 2006 and 2017.

Lopes holds a Diploma in Financial Strategy from the University of Oxford and an MBA in Business Administration from the University of Porto.

Paul Dupee, group chairman, said: “Rui brings with him considerable commercial, financial, and operational expertise and we look forward to working with him as we continue to deliver our strategy.”
