Leeds prepares for a grilling

Leeds food scene is set for a further addition, with American-style cheeseburger restaurant Meat:Stack preparing to open in the city.
The independent restaurant which started as a pop-up in 2016 says it is bringing its menu loaded with beefy treats inspired by one of America’s most iconic creations – the cheeseburger – and elevating it to “an art form”.
With a real focus on quality, the team has crafted a small yet perfectly formed menu of double or triple cheeseburgers, sides, shakes and desserts that will satisfy even the most discerning of fast-food junkies and opening its first high street store in 2020 in Newcastle.
Each patty is lovingly crafted with the perfect blend of rare and traditional beef cuts before being smashed into a raging hot grill, smothered with cheese and all the trimmings, before being steamed to melted gooey perfection.
The menu include the bestselling French Canadian, which comes loaded with streaky bacon, blue cheese, garlic butter, chilli-maple syrup, hash brown, American cheese and signature Stack Sauce, or there’s the classically American West Coast Classic with American cheese, house made Stack Sauce and shredded lettuce.
For those who prefer something other than beef the Turbocharger offers chicken tenders, baconnaise, pickled jalapenos, dry cure smoked streaky bacon, hash brown and Signature Buffalo sauce.
The burgers however are only part of the story with sides menu equally as desirable including Pompeii Fries, which consists of beef dripping fries smothered with Stack Sauce, fiery nduja, basil oil and parmesan cheese.; or the Filthy Fries with a killer combo of crumbled blue cheese, Signature Buffalo and crispy onions.
Meat:Stack will call 34 Boar Lane home, which is also home to Mowgli, after the building was recently transformed by the owners, investment firm Kinrise. The venue will seat up to 60 diners and create up to 25 new jobs in Leeds.
Meat:Stack partner and director Allan Hyslop said: “Since we announced that we will be coming to Leeds, we cannot get over the incredible support we have had in the city. There is such a great food scene here and we cannot wait to be a part of that! Community is everything to us and we hope to be getting involved with as many businesses, creatives and foodie folk as we possibly can once we are open!”
