Scarborough pub re-opens after £183k refurbishment

Newlands Park pub in Scarborough has re-opened following a £183,000 investment.

The seaside venue now has a brighter and more open plan look.

New lighting, flooring and carpets have also been fitted and the outdoor seating area enhanced. In the near future, the outdoor area will be extended, with its covered area set to include heaters and festoon lighting.

The pub is also now more friendly for people with disabilities, with steps removed and an accessible toilet fitted.

Pub operator Joanne Hakings was born in Scarborough and has run the pub for over 16 years.

She said: “It’s great to see the pub back open again with its new look and feel. Early feedback from our guests has been really positive and it has come at the perfect time with the new football season kicking off.

“It’s important for me that the locals who visit the pub feel a warm welcome to Newlands Park, and I think this refurbishment will do a great job of people feeling at home here with us.”
