Leeds practice acquired by top 50 accounts group

Leeds accountancy practice, Novis & Co, has been acquired by DJH Mitten Clarke.

The West Yorkshire firm says a partnership with the top-50 accountancy group will help to strengthen its infrastructure and allow new growth in Leeds and across West Yorkshire.

Claire Howarth, managing director at Novis & Co, said: “DJH Mitten Clarke brings with it a number of specialist services, such as capital allowances, R&D, corporate finance and commercial & residential funding, along with group services such as marketing, learning and development and recruitment.

“Ultimately, all of this will enhance the advice and support that we offer to our clients.”

It is the latest acquisition for the DJH Mitten Clarke Group and follows a deal with private equity investment partnership with Tenzing which was designed to accelerate the group’s growth trajectory.

Group chief executive officer, Scott Heath, said: “Following the launch of our specialist R&D office in Sheffield, it’s fantastic to enhance our presence within Yorkshire even further with a substantial office in Leeds.

“Our conversations with the team at Novis & Co opened up a new opportunity which was right for our business and a natural next step on our journey.”

Howarth added: “After many successful years providing support and business advice for our clients, it was evident that for us to continue to develop and grow our business we needed to look for a partner to strengthen our infrastructure.”

Morley will remain the home of the Novis & Co team. However, within the coming months, it will take on the DJH Mitten Clarke name, becoming the Leeds office for the group.

Howarth will continue to lead the team, alongside fellow director, Steve Tucker.

The latest news follows a successful two years for Stoke-on-Trent headquartered DJH Mitten Clarke, with a series of acquisitions in Chester, Manchester and Walsall. The group was advised on the acquisition by Knights plc.

Novis & Co was advised by Bevan Brittan LLP.
