Another Continental acquisition for veterinary group
VetPartners’ expansion across Europe has continued after a group of small animal clinics from the Netherlands joined the group.
DierenDokters has joined the veterinary group which has its headquarters in York. Previously operating as a franchise network, 14 clinics have now joined the VetPartners family.
They are VetPartners’ first practices in the Netherlands, and the acquisition comes within weeks of its first clinic in Portugal joining its growing family of practices across the UK, Ireland, Spain, France, Italy, Germany and Switzerland.
DierenDokters has 93 employees across its clinics, including 29 vets, working in sites across Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam, Eindhoven and Utrecht and surrounding areas.
DierenDokters CEO Maico Boumans, one of their two founders and owners, will continue to oversee DierenDokters in the Netherlands, where VetPartners is expecting further expansion.
Boumans said: “I believe VetPartners and DierenDokters are a perfect match because we share the same values and have the same vision of how veterinary medicine should be practiced, now and in the future.
“Like VetPartners, we believe it is important that we invest in the wellbeing and development of people and relieve them of their daily non-veterinary tasks to enable them to focus on providing the quality of care our patients deserve.”
VetPartners CEO, Jo Malone, added: “We have been interested in expanding into the Netherlands for some time, and we first met Maico in 2018. We were looking for the right partner and we believe DierenDokters are the right fit for our family of practices.
“The practices and people in them are like-minded and we really look forward to working with them.”
