New lease of life for landmark pub

AN historic pub has been transformed into new headquarters for chartered surveyors Handley Gibson after undergoing a major revamp.

The growing firm has moved to its first wholly-owned business premises on the site of former landmark public house The Skinner Arms, known locally as the Gluepot, on Sheepscar Street North in Leeds.

The company won £350,000 of funding from the Leeds corporate banking centre of The Co-operative Bank to help secure the site.

The redevelopment began in February and extensive renovations have been carried out to transform the building into office space.

Simon Handley, partner of Handley Gibson, said: “We needed to secure and agree a loan in order to purchase our first wholly-owned premises.

“The Co-operative Bank in Leeds was recommended to us and it became clear that it offered the best business terms for us.”

Aswell as being a chartered surveyor, Handley Gibson also specialises in  auctioneering and property management services.
