Midlands Indian restaurant aims to recreate successful formula in Yorkshire

Following the success of its Nottingham, Leicester and Birmingham eateries, Indian restaurant tamatanga, has unveiled its fourth opening.

Building on its following in the Midlands, the concept will be bringing the same recipe to Leeds.

Scheduled for early summer, tamatanga’s next eatery will be at The Light on The Headrow in central Leeds.

The new restaurant will feature eye-catching interiors similar to the designs seen in the brand’s other locations, all of which take inspiration from the streets of India.

The menu offers a mix of the familiar and the slightly less expected along with classic dishes updated with a modern twist.

The food selection has been crafted to include a wide variety of meat, vegetarian, vegan and gluten friendly dishes.

Diners can also expect a range of cocktails, varying from the fruity Peachy Blinder to the Wray’s Sorbet which blends tequila, strawberry cream soda and Wray and Nephew Overproof rum.

tamatanga creative director, Mona Kular, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be bringing our food to a city as vibrant as Leeds.

“Our fresh, homely, and very real approach to cooking is perfect for lunch, dinner and anything in between.

“From warming curries to flavourful salads and heavenly small plates, there’s something for everyone. We’re really looking forward to welcoming our first Leeds diners.”

The new restaurant has 160 covers, including 40 in the bar and 120 in the restaurant, and will create 50 jobs.
