Dozens more retirement homes to be completed this autumn

Completion is approaching on a new retirement community in Burley in Wharfedale, built by McCarthy Stone.

The first phase of apartments in the development, known as Summer Manor, are now available to reserve off-plan. The development is due to be ready for homeowners to move in this autumn.

Yorkshire estate agent, Dacre, Son & Hartley, which has an office in Burley in Wharfedale, has been appointed to market the scheme

Summer Manor occupies the site of the former Generous Pioneer pub, and consists of 42 one and two-bedroom apartments for the over 60s.

It will offer landscaped gardens and a communal lounge hosting regular events, a 24-hour emergency call system and an onsite house manager during office hours.

Fiona Brooks, sales and marketing director at McCarthy Stone, said: “All our retirement developments are designed to encourage a community feeling to flourish, while offering residents the complete privacy of their own contemporary retirement apartments.

“The development will offer stylish communal spaces including a lovely lounge and gardens, ideal for meeting friends and neighbours for a drink and a chat.

“In addition, there’s a luxurious hotel-style guest suite and parking for when visitors come to stay.”

Lesley Shakeshaft, who heads Dacre, Son & Hartley’s Burley in Wharfedale office, said: “Summer Manor promises to be a very popular development within easy walking distance of Burley in Wharfedale’s independent shops, pubs and eateries.

“There’s a definite shortage of purpose-built retirement developments in the local area so we’re very excited to be launching these apartments.”
