Yorkshire Finance Leaders Awards 2023 keynote speaker revealed
Racing driver Nicolas Hamilton has been announced as the keynote speaker for the prestigious Yorkshire Finance Leaders Awards 2023.
Sponsored by leading global professional services firm Aon, international professional services firm BDO LLP, financial recruitment specialist Marks Sattin, and Lloyds Bank, the awards recognise the region’s brightest and talented finance stars.
Born with cerebral palsy, which affects the movement of his legs, Nicolas has defied expectations that he would be reliant on a wheelchair for life, by learning to walk unaided after following a gruelling training programme. Nicolas dreamed of becoming a professional racing driver and, with his unwavering determination and grit, was given the opportunity to race against able-bodied athletes in the highly competitive Renault Clio Cup series 2011, showing the world of motorsport just what he could achieve.
In 2015, Nicolas competed in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) becoming the first disabled athlete to take part in the competition. Nicolas’ racing career has gone from strength to strength, and earlier this year he scored a career best finish in Round One of the Championship at Donington Park, finishing in sixth place and securing a new personal record.
Nicolas will deliver his inspiring speech at the Yorkshire Finance Leaders Awards 2023, which are taking place at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on Thursday 12 October, recounting a personal story of motivation and detailing the challenges he faced and how he consistently overcomes adversity.
Nicolas Hamilton said: “It’s been quite a year for me, so what better than to be invited to be able to speak at such a prestigious event as the Yorkshire Finance Leaders’ Awards 2023 and to be able to share my story and this year’s successes. I am really looking forward to being with you in Yorkshire in October.”
