Snacks producer has appetite for expansion thanks to £12m investment

Calbee UK Ltd, owner of Seabrook Crisps, has secured planning permission for a two-phase development at its Bradford-based manufacturing facility thanks to a £12m investment from the business.
The application for a 43,000 sq ft extension will deliver a 32,300 sq ft cooking and preparation warehouse, before a second 10,800 sq ft storage warehouse is constructed.
The plans will also see new process equipment installed, delivering a 70% increase in output from the facility.
Calbee’s expansion in Bradford follows an investment of £3m at its Deeside site earlier this year, extending the group’s product capabilities and adding additional capacity in snacks.

The extensions will give the business the capability to diversify its range of crisps and snacks, further expanding the Seabrook and Harvest Snaps brands across the market.
Calbee UK managing director, Daniel Woodwards, said: “This planning approval is a further and significant step forward for Calbee UK.
“The focus we have on producing delicious crisps and snacks at everyday affordable prices is really resonating with retail customers and shoppers alike.
“What we want to do now is to increase the capacity of our core crisps, having extended the range and variety of snacks we offer earlier this year.
“Meeting with more of the snacking occasions we know shoppers enjoy allows us to put our long-term strategy and ambition for greater scale into practice.”
