Featherstone Rovers issued with winding up petition

Rugby League club, Featherstone Rovers, has been served with a winding up petition but its chief executive says he expects the matter will soon be “resolved”.

The petition was filed against the club by Investec Asset Finance plc, with law firm Gunnercooke being instructed on the action.

A winding-up petition is a serious statement of intent by a creditor to shut down a company due to unpaid debts through compulsory liquidation.

However, it is not currently clear what the club’s debts are in relation to. Featherstone Rovers chief executive, Martin Vickers, has commented to League Express: “This is a matter we are in discussions with Investec about and we expect to resolve shortly.”

It is not the first time Featherstone have been issued with a winding up order. They have been hit with seven of these orders in the past between November 2014 and July 2017, all of which were dismissed.
