80-bed South Yorkshire care home changes hands

MPS Care Group has sold its 80-bed Northfield Care Centre in Thorne, Doncaster, to Wood Care Group, an established operator of care homes in Yorkshire and Greater Manchester.
MPS runs care homes across the UK. It was advised on the sale by Midlands-based law firm Flint Bishop.
The deal’s legal process was handled by Martyn Brierley, Mandy Chan and Janet Rhodes of Flint Bishop.
Paul Gray, CEO of MPS, said: “I would like to thank all those involved in assisting the company with the sale to Wood Care, including Martyn Brierley and Janet Rhodes from Flint Bishop, Nick Grieves from NGA Care, and James Delve from PKF Smith Cooper.
“After many years of being cared for by the MPS family, the home has now passed into another caring family. All of us at MPS wish the residents, staff, and the management team the very best for their future.”
Brierley, partner and head of corporate & finance at Flint Bishop, said: “We’re happy to have advised MPS on this important transaction, having represented MPS for many years on various strategic acquisitions and disposals.
“This is a sector we are passionate about, given its importance in supporting those in need of excellent care, such as the residents of Northfield.
“We wish Wood Care Ltd, its residents, and staff at the home a bright and prosperous future.”
Nick Greaves, managing director of care home brokerage firm NGA Care, added: “The transaction has been undertaken in great spirits, and the professionalism shown by both the sellers’ and buyers’ advisors has been top-notch.
“We generated a high level of interest in this business, which is yet another example of the strong appetite we are seeing for operational homes nationwide.”
