Fire ravaged gastro pub is rising from the ashes

Completion of a new kitchen roof has marked a milestone in the ongoing refurbishment of Huddersfield gastro pub The 3 Acres, after the venue was severely damaged by fire on Boxing Day 2023.

Principal contractor, Radcliffe Construction, has released images of the roof over the newly-created kitchen at the rear of the building – part of a six-month programme of structural and refurbishment work being project managed by the Huddersfield based company.

Paul Radcliffe, managing director at Radcliffe Construction, said: “Since work began in August we have made excellent progress with the schedule, including building the walls for a new kitchen after the existing one was destroyed in the fire.

“We’re pleased that the kitchen roof is now complete as this marks a major milestone in the project and means we can move forward with the installation of the new, state-of-the-art commercial kitchen being supplied by Greens Commercial Kitchens in the coming weeks.”

Tom Truelove, owner at The 3 Acres, said: “One of the first major jobs in the project plan was to quite literally rebuild our kitchen which was destroyed in the fire.

“We’ve taken the opportunity to develop areas of the kitchen, which is quite a vast space.

“For example, we’ve decided to extend the pastry kitchen where our bakery will now be incorporated, and we’ve moved a few things around to ensure a better flow and more efficient communication during busy service hours.”
