City restaurant and bar to shut due to tough economic climate

A restaurant and bar on top of a shopping centre in Leeds city centre will close later this month, its owners have confirmed.
Angelica and Crafthouse, which launched at Trinity Leeds in 2013, will shut on Sunday 15 December due to “economic challenges”, according to D&D London.
Crafthouse Leeds benefited from a six-figure revamp in 2022.
The company, which also has restaurants in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Paris and New York, closed down two of its other premises at Leeds Victoria Gate last year.
David Loewi, CEO of the D&D London restaurant and hotel group, told the BBC the decision to close the restaurant had been made “after thorough deliberation”. And he said it had followed “a comprehensive review of business operations.”
He added: “This decision follows and reflects the ongoing economic challenges facing the hospitality industry, with the long-term success and sustainability of D&D London in mind.”
A spokesman for Trinity Leeds said: “We’re sad to see Angelica and Crafthouse go after so many years at Trinity Leeds.” They said other businesses had expressed interest in taking on the space.
