Community hub development due to complete before Christmas
Construction of the new Mixenden Community Hub, in north Halifax, is nearing completion.
Building work on the property, which is being carried out by contractor Code Building Solutions, is due to be finished before Christmas.
Once finished it will feature a modern new library, a Primary Care Network Hub delivering community health care services and a shop or office space for rent.
The library will soon be revealing its early 2025 opening date, and the Primary Care Network Hub is planning its fit-out and will also confirm its opening date soon.
This investment in north Halifax is part of the Next Chapter for Calderdale project to enable economic growth, reduce inequalities and build a sustainable future.
Councillor Sarah Courtney, Calderdale Council’s cabinet member for regeneration and transport, said: “North Halifax is having a moment, with some longstanding regeneration projects nearing completion.
“We are ambitious for our towns and places, and are committed to seeing them, and the people within them, thrive.
“The final touches of building work at the new Mixenden Community Hub mark the start of the difference that the North Halifax Strategy will make in transforming the area and supporting people’s hopes and challenges.
“The hub is set to bring some great services and opportunities into the heart of this strong community.”
