Affordable homes being built in £3.5m deal with social housing provider

Housebuilder Avant Homes is constructing 20 homes for WDH at Hay Green Park in Birdwell, near Barnsley, after agreeing a deal with the social housing provider worth £3.5m.
It is the second deal the housebuilder has secured with WDH, with a package of Section 106 and Homes England grant-funded affordable homes.
Avant Homes’ multi-tenure strategy seeks to maximise housing supply through the provision of new homes for private sale, the private rental sector (PRS) and additional affordable housing.
Construction of the new homes at Hay Green Park is well underway. They will comprise two and three-bedroom semi-detached homes and two-bedroom terraced homes.
The first homes will be handed over to WDH before the end of this year, with all the homes expected to be completed by summer 2026.
Avant Homes and WDH recently confirmed their first deal, which will see the housebuilder construct 118 homes for the social housing provider across South Yorkshire.
Avant Homes group head of affordable housing delivery, Phil Lacey, said: “We’re very pleased to have secured this second deal with WDH and provide new affordable homes in Birdwell.
“Our Hay Green Park development has proven extremely popular, showing the high demand for practically designed, energy-efficient homes within the local area.
“WDH’s affordable homes will not only help contribute to growing the development’s vibrant community, but also provide homes for the people who need them most.
“Creating long-term partnerships with social housing providers is a key part of our multi-tenure strategy’s vision.”
Avant Homes has currently secured a near term pipeline of more than 500 affordable homes to be delivered across 17 developments. This is in addition to 600 Section 106 affordable homes currently under construction.
Hay Green Park is being delivered by Avant Homes West Yorkshire. The regional operating business currently has six live developments ranging from Odette’s Point in Keighley to Sorby Park in Waverley.
Joel Owen, service director of development at WDH, said: “We’re pleased to be working again with Avant Homes, continuing to grow our partnership, adding to the 118 affordable homes we already have planned together in South Yorkshire.
“Partnerships like this are key to providing more high-quality, affordable homes and creating vibrant communities.”
