AES invests in new home

VEHICLE parts firm Auto Electrical Suppliers is to take on new staff after moving to bigger premises.
AES’s new 6,000 sq ft home in Wakefield represents a £300,000 investment and is double the size of its previous base.
The company, led by husband and wife James and Wendy Fawkes, supplies fuses, conduit systems and battery terminals for use in coaches and commercial vehicles.
Mr Fawkes said: “Moving to larger premises will allow us to significantly develop the business. The extra warehousing space means we can increase the volume of our existing stock and add new lines to our produce range.
“It also provides us with the opportunity to reconfigure our operations to ensure we are working as efficiently as possible. This move is an exciting development and we are confident it will prove a catalyst for further growth.”
AES was launched in 1996 and has grown to a £1.8m turnover business and exports to Europe, Australia, South America and the Middle East.
The move to the new premises was funded with backing from RBS.
Giles McVicar, RBS relationship manager, said: “Applied Electrical Supplies is a great example of a successful SME business. Acquiring larger premises makes sound commercial sense and should further strengthen the company’s position.”
