Bardsley wins schools contracts

THE Yorkshire arm of contractor Bardsley Construction has landed two new deals to build primary schools in Pontefract and Castleford worth a combined £7m.

The contracts, for Wakefield Council, will see it build the new Delacy Primary School at Pontefract, and Oyster Park Primary School in Castleford. These will replace existing schools and feature new key stage 1 and key stage 2 teaching space on two floors together with new dining and kitchen facilities, assembly halls and breakout spaces for learning.

The new sustainable schools will both feature hi-spec internal finishes and a mixture of modern external materials such as render, timber and aluminium glazing with photovoltaic panels in the roof. The existing grass pitches will be upgraded along with new playgrounds and car parking being provided.

Bardsley Construction will build the schools as part of the YORbuild construction framework, that provides a collaborative approach to procurement for Yorkshire and Humber region’s 22 local authorities and other regionally-based public sector bodies.

Bardsley Construction’s Adrian Rooney said: “These schools are our most recent success in the region and the latest YORbuild schemes for Bardsley Construction, following that for Bradford Academy and we very much look forward to providing further state-of-the-art education facilities, and continue to be able offer training opportunities for the young people of Yorkshire.”
