COMMERCIAL property specialist Sarah Miles has joined the commercial division of York-based law firm Langleys.
Ms Miles joins the firm as a partner based in the firm’s Lincoln office.
The firm’s managing partner, David Thompson, said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Sarah to the Lincoln team and believe she will bring with her a fresh take on commercial property law for Langleys. She’s a well-regarded lawyer with fantastic contacts in the region.”

ACCOUNTANT Shaun Mullins has joined the Leeds office of Mazars as an audit and advisory partner.
Mr Mullins joins the firm from Baker Tilly where he spent the last four years.
He said: “I have long been impressed with the proactive way Mazars has been developing both in the UK and internationally. It is a growing, integrated and international firm with significant ambition and an already strong offering in the Yorkshire marketplace.”

GARBUTT & Elliott has recruited a specialist VAT consultant to strengthen its existing team.
Brian Birt, who will be working from both the York and the Leeds offices of the accountants, joins from PKF accountants in Leeds.
Mr Birt will be working with the firm’s head of tax Nick Scull, who said: “Brian’s extensive experience of VAT will be invaluable to our clients and I am delighted to welcome him to our expanding tax department.”
Mr Birt specialises in working out VAT strategies for golf clubs and universities and his clients include golf clubs across Yorkshire and both universities in Leeds.

ONLINE recruitment company Blue Octopus has taken on five new recruits.
The Otley-based company, established in January 2010, now employs 28 staff.
The quintet are: Matt Barber (client delivery manager); Mathew Cousins (trainee web developer/support); Daniel Briggs (marketing manager); Tony Sharma (client delivery manager); and Emma Johnsen (client delivery administrator).
