Recruitment firm bucking economic downturn

RECRUITMENT firm Odgers Ray and Berndtson has seen a 33% increase in instructions, despite the uncertain economic outlook.
Latest figures from the Leeds office of the firm reveals that it is defying the credit crunch and completing more business than this time last year.
Overall the firm’s revenues are up 15% up on last year’s figures.
Simon Walton, head of Select in Leeds said: “In general we are bucking the trend. Businesses in Yorkshire are continuing to look for talented, top people. These figures show that although the predictions for this year were not good, we are weathering the storm and are actually doing better in many areas than last year.”
Odgers has handled a range of regionally important senior appointments over the last year, including Richard Mansell, chief executive of the Harewood House Trust, Maggie Boyle, chief executive of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust; and senior executive appointments for HBOS, Kelda and Jet2.com.
Based in London, the firm now has UK regional offices in Aberdeen, Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Leeds and Manchester as well as belonging to the international network of Ray & Berndtson which operates across Europe, the USA and Canada, the Middle East and Asia/Pacific.
