Mackenzie Stuart competes lettings at No 1 Whitehall Riverside

OFFICE development No 1 Whitehall Riverside in Leeds has become fully let after recruitment consultant Mackenzie Stuart took almost 6,500 sq ft of space following a fit-out project by Chameleon Business Interiors.
Mackenzie Stewart has relocated its Leeds office to the building, agreeing a 10-year lease on the last remaining suite.
Jones Lang LaSalle and Savills let the space on behalf of the building’s owner, NFU Mutual.
Chameleon Business Interiors designed and fit out the office space for Mackenzie Stewart.
The grade A office building, which comprises a total of 127,731 sq ft of space, boasts tenants including BNY Mellon, Cobbetts, Dickinson Dees and Grant Thornton.
Richard Thornton, director in Jones Lang LaSalle’s office agency team, said: “This letting to Mackenzie Stuart is the culmination of a very successful marketing campaign which has taken full advantage of occupier preference for prime grade A offices.
“Over the course of 2012, some 45% of space transacted in the city centre has been for grade A offices including the subletting of 17,000 sq ft at No1 Whitehall Riverside by Dickinson Dees from BNY Mellon.”
Colliers International acted for Mackenzie Stuart.
Meanwhile, Jeff Pearey, head of Jones Lang LaSalle’s Leeds office, believes there are “some brighter signs of late” for the economy and commercial property market.
Mr Pearey said: “Grade A office supply remains constrained given the lack of speculative development across the regional markets, but the relatively subdued occupier demand means existing supply remains sufficient for at least the next year.
“The Leeds office market is still faced with a series of potentially large pre-let requirements and it is likely this will fuel some speculative development. Some significant office refurbishment programmes are already underway which will cater for demand from occupiers seeking smaller suites. In all, there is some scope for a little optimism in the Leeds office market over the next 12 to 24 months.”
