Yule Catto confirms chemicals sale

SPECIALITY chemical producer Yule Catto today confirmed the sale of its Holliday Pigments business, which closed its plant in Hull last year, for £35.9m.
Essex-based Yule Catto, which is quoted on the London Stock Exchange, owns the Synthomer polymer chemicals plants in Batley, Ossett and Grimsby and the Holliday Pigments business in Hull.
Since the closure of the Hull plant, production has moved to northern France.
Yule Catto said today its Holliday Pigments SA, Holliday Pigments International SA, Holliday France SA and Holliday Chemical Espana SA had been sold to Rockwood Specialities Group.
Earlier this year, Yule Catto sold Huddersfield-based manufacturer James Robinson, which makes photographic chemicals, hair dyes and dyes used in lenses for sunglasses, to Indian group Vivimed Labs.
Yule Catto’s chemicals are used in the pharmaceuticals, paints and adhesives industry.
