Record quarter for WANdisco

SOFTWARE company WANdisco saw orders increase to record levels in the final quarter of 2012 as customers including Apple used its services.
The Sheffield and California-based AIM-listed business said subscription bookings reached a record level of $2.51m (£1.56m), a 76% year-on-year increase.
When combined with bookings for the first nine months of the year of $5.39m (£3.35m), the total bookings for 2012 were $7.91m (£4.92m), up from $4.61m (£2.86m) in 2011.
Notable new customers secured in the fourth quarter include Apple, Fujitsu, Cap Gemini, General Dynamics, Delta Systems and Penn State University.
The company also announced new deals from its recently established presence in China including H3C and Nanjing Exchange.
WANdisco said annual renewals were also in line with previous performance.
In a trading update this morning, WANdisco added: “During the period the company announced the acquisition of pioneering Big Data company, AltoStor. The acquisition underscored WANdisco’s drive into the Big Data solutions market, forecast by analyst firm Wikibon to grow at a compound annual rate of 58% between 2012 and 2017 and from $5bn to approximately $50bn in the same timeframe.”
WANdisco expects to release its first Big Data products – which will ensure huge amounts of data can be stored and shared – in the first quarter of this year.
The company will publish its annual results on April 25.
