Historic mill office refurbishment completed

THE £500,000 refurbishment of an historic Edwardian mill office has been completed.
Sandsgate in Farsley is situated in the heart of the Sunny Bank Mills complex where YTV’s Emmerdale and Heartbeat were filmed, and has now been transformed into a modern office complex.
Comprising 9,000 sq ft of office space, the site was formerly the administrative engine room of one of the most famous family-owned mills in Yorkshire.
This month a UK technology company, which declined to be named, took 2,060 sq ft of quality office space at Sandsgate. This new letting came hard on the heels of a hat-trick of deals at the mill office last month.
John Gaunt, joint managing director of Edwin Woodhouse, the owners of Sunny Bank Mills, said: “The new letting is the culmination of the meticulous refurbishment of the Sandsgate building, which is now complete. It is a vindication of our belief in Farsley as an attractive out-of- town business location, even when faced with direct city centre competition.
“With over 85% of the first phase of the refurbished Sandsgate building now occupied, we are now releasing a further 1,500 sq ft ground floor offices with own front door access direct to car park this month. This is in addition to the Sunny Bank Mills Gallery, housed on the ground floor, that will host arts events throughout the year,” he said.
Mark Nicholson of Leeds property consultancy Dove Haigh Phillips, who are marketing Sunny Bank Mills with Jones Lang Lasalle, added: “These recent deals further vindicate the capital expenditure and attention to detail the refurbishment of Sunny Bank Mills has created.
“Sansdsgate is now 85% let and, with the recent completion of two further suites providing 1,625 sq ft of quality office space, we are looking forward to welcoming new tenants to the estate, which is now home to over 30 businesses and 164 staff,” he added.
Kay Land of Capital Design Build, a tenant of Sandsgate, said: “Sandsgate is a superb place to work. We love the ethos of this superb development and we are delighted to be contributing to the commercial life of Farsley.”
