Latest property appointments: Deloitte Real Estate; Rushbond; Sanderson Weatherall

DELOITTE Real Estate’s newly-appointed head of Leeds has outlined the challenges the city faces if it is to build on its “incredible” current momentum.

Angela Barnicle has been promoted from within Deloitte Real Estate to lead the team, based at No 1 City Square.

She said the city has to tackle the lack of Grade A office space, while attracting increased overseas investment, especially in areas such as healthcare, which she has identified as a key growth sector.

Ms Barnicle said: “I’m delighted to become head of Leeds for Deloitte Real Estate at what is a particularly exciting time for the city. There aren’t many other cities in the UK with a landscape that is changing as much as Leeds is at the moment, but the pressure is now on to build on that momentum and convert into credible demand.

“The South Bank is the obvious next jigsaw piece of the city, and there are significant opportunities for Leeds in the healthcare sector which will need to be capitalised on.”
