Leading PR figure to speak at major Yorkshire conference and awards

THE chief executive of one of the UK’s leading PR agencies will be speaking about the new communications landscape at a PR conference in Yorkshire this week.

Alison Clarke, CEO of Grayling UK & Ireland, will be speaking at the DARE Awards, a day-long awards and conference event organised by the Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA) at the Queen’s Hotel in Leeds on Thursday.

Alison said: “I will be discussing the new communications landscape, in which the old-fashioned lines drawn between previously well-defined disciplines are becoming increasingly irrelevant. Today, above-the-line and below-the-line are merging. There is no line any more, and so PR people must realise that this new world requires them to speak in many different voices to many different publics.

“One thing is certain – the PR industry is increasingly going to be coming up against the ad agencies, SEO’s and digital firms as they hunt down new business opportunities.”

Alison has been CEO of top 10 UK PR agency Grayling since 2011, before which she worked as business development director at Huntsworth Group.

Previously she has worked as CEO of Weber Shandwick Asia Pacific and ran Shandwick Welbeck in London.

Alison will speak at DARE alongside Ian Ratcliffe, Stockport Council head of communications, and PRCA Communications director Matt Cartmell.

The conference will be complimented by an awards ceremony hosted by David Parkin, founder of TheBusinessDesk.com, alongside training opportunities and new business and networking prospects.
